Why is YFC hosting a hymn sing?
Traditional hymns of the Church carry the power of nostalgia for many, many Believers. They take us back to special times or places that have fond memories. When you couple that with the sights & smells of autumn – now you have me in my happy place.
Did you know that hymns have played an important role in the development of Youth for Christ? 75 years ago Billy Graham began with YFC sharing the life changing message of Jesus; and we all know the power of hymns throughout his remarkable ministry.
Youth for Christ continues with that same passion today; with equal intensity and focus, however, with methods relevant to today’s teenager. Over the past 75 years YFC has remained anchored to the Rock and geared to the times as we produce life-long followers of Jesus Christ.
We want for you to experience the story of YFC while strolling down memory lane at our first annual Community Hymn Sing on Sunday October 27, 3 pm at the Church of the Nazarene in Brainerd. You’ll discover how Brainerd Youth for Christ is earnestly working to equip area students with hope, inspiration, peace and purpose and how you can be a partner with us in this adventure.
An afternoon of singing hymns together, hearing the stories behind those hymns and discovering the work of Youth for Christ both yesteryear and today. Oh, there will most likely be a cup of coffee or two as well. and ….. its autumn, we’ll have to have pumpkin bars!
Sunday October 27, 3 pm at the Church of the Nazarene in Brainerd. For more information call 218-825-9149. There is no admission fee; a love offering will be received.
